1. Which climbing courses does Climbing Academy Vienna offer?
Climbing Academy Vienna offers exclusive indoor and outdoor climbing courses in Vienna and Lower Austria. These include top-rope climbing courses, lead climbing courses, customized climbing courses, climbing courses for children aged five and over, and outdoor climbing courses on real rock.
Every booking is reserved exclusively for you or your own group. No unknown participants are added. Courses usually take place with one to six people; other group sizes and special requests can be arranged individually.
2. How can I book a climbing course?
Indoor courses at Kletterhalle Marswiese can be booked directly online. You can choose between regular course times and additional flexible times.
Outdoor courses, courses at other climbing gyms and special requests are arranged personally via the contact form, email or phone. Every booking is an exclusive session for you or your own group.
3. What should I bring to the climbing course?
Please bring comfortable sportswear, something to drink and your own climbing shoes or rental shoes from the climbing gym. The other equipment required depends on the course and location.
By prior arrangement, Climbing Academy Vienna can provide complete climbing equipment for up to two people. Equipment requirements for larger groups must be clarified before the course.
4. How is safety ensured during the climbing course?
Safety, clear instruction and individual supervision are central to every course. We follow current safety standards and regularly check the equipment used. Christoph Steiner is a state-certified instructor for sport climbing and teaches the correct use of equipment and belay systems.
Whether participants can belay independently is assessed individually during the course. At outdoor locations, rockfall risk and anchor material are checked at the beginning of the season and again at the start of the course.
5. Are the courses suitable for children, teenagers and adults?
Yes. Courses are available for children, teenagers and adults. Children can participate from the age of five. The content, teaching approach and level of supervision are adapted to the participants’ age, experience and goals.
Courses usually take place with one to six people.
6. What happens if I need to cancel a course?
Please let us know as early as possible if you cannot attend your course.
If you cancel at least 10 calendar days before the course begins, any amount already paid will be refunded in full or no course fee will be charged. If you cancel 3 to 9 calendar days before the course begins, 50% of the agreed course price will be charged. If you cancel less than 3 calendar days before the course begins or fail to attend, the full course price is payable.

7. Where do the climbing courses take place?
Indoor courses are regularly held at Kletterhalle Marswiese, Neuwaldegger Straße 57A, 1170 Vienna. Outdoor courses take place at suitable climbing areas in Lower Austria.
The exact location depends on the participants’ experience, the course content and current conditions. Courses at other climbing gyms can be arranged on request. You will receive all relevant arrival and meeting-point information before the course.
8. How many people can take part in a course?
Courses usually take place with one to six people. Your booking is reserved exclusively for you or your own group; no unknown participants are added.
Different group sizes may be possible depending on age, course content, location and the supervision required. In exceptional cases, groups of up to ten people can be arranged. For groups of more than ten, we work with our partners Morscher Climbing and Psychologie bewegt and can organize programmes for up to 30 people.
9. Can the course be adapted to individual goals?
Yes. Course content can be tailored to goals such as improving climbing technique, belay training, returning to climbing after a break, or preparing to climb independently. Customized sessions are available for children, teenagers and adults.

12. Do I need previous climbing experience?
No previous experience is required for a top-rope climbing course or an introductory customized session. A lead climbing course requires existing climbing and belaying experience.
If you are unsure whether your experience is sufficient, please contact us before booking.
13. Which course is right for me?
Choose a top-rope climbing course if you are new to rope climbing and want to learn the essential skills for safe top-rope climbing. A customized climbing course is ideal if you want flexible content or individual coaching. A lead climbing course is designed for climbers who already have experience and want to learn or improve lead climbing. Climbing courses for children are adapted to the child’s age and experience.

14. How long does a climbing course take?
For the top-rope climbing course, we recommend a two-hour main session followed by a one-hour refresher session. A lead climbing course generally consists of at least three two-hour sessions plus a refresher session.
The duration of customized climbing courses and children’s courses is planned according to the participants’ goals, age and experience.

Outdoor courses and special requests are quoted individually because the location, programme, group size and equipment requirements can vary.

1. Scope
These Terms and Conditions apply to contracts between Christoph Steiner e.U., trading as Climbing Academy Vienna, and its customers for climbing courses, training sessions, outdoor courses, vouchers and related services.
Any deviating agreement must be expressly agreed. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
2. Services and Exclusive Course Model
Climbing Academy Vienna offers indoor and outdoor climbing courses, including top-rope climbing courses, lead climbing courses, climbing courses for children and customized climbing courses.
Each booking is reserved exclusively for the customer or the customer’s own group. Unknown participants are not added. Courses generally take place with one to six people. Other group sizes may be agreed depending on the participants’ age, the course content, the location and the supervision required.
The specific course content is adapted to the participants’ age, experience, goals and group composition, as well as the safety requirements and conditions at the course location.
3. Formation of the Contract
For bookings made through Cal.com, the contract is formed when the online booking process has been successfully completed. No additional booking confirmation from Climbing Academy Vienna is required unless expressly stated otherwise during booking.
For enquiries made by email, phone, WhatsApp or contact form, the contract is formed when the date, service and price have been agreed by both parties.
The customer must provide accurate contact details and the correct number of participants.
4. Prices and Additional Costs
The price shown on the website or individually agreed applies. Unless expressly stated otherwise, admission to climbing gyms and rental equipment are not included in the course price and must be paid directly to the respective provider.
For outdoor courses, any additional equipment, travel or third-party costs will be agreed before the contract is concluded.
5. Payment
Indoor courses are generally invoiced after the course and must be paid by bank transfer within the payment period stated on the invoice.
Outdoor courses are generally payable in advance before the course begins. A different payment arrangement may be agreed in writing.
6. Cancellation by the Customer
For leisure services provided on a specific date or within a specific period, there is no statutory right of withdrawal under Section 18(1)(10) of the Austrian Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG).
Climbing Academy Vienna nevertheless grants the following voluntary cancellation terms:
If the customer cancels at least 10 calendar days before the course begins, any amount already paid will be refunded in full or no course fee will be charged.
If the customer cancels 3 to 9 calendar days before the course begins, 50% of the agreed course price will be charged.
If the customer cancels less than 3 calendar days before the course begins or fails to attend, the full course price is payable.
Cancellations must be made in writing, for example by email or WhatsApp. The time at which the cancellation is received is decisive.
7. Changes or Cancellation by Climbing Academy Vienna
Climbing Academy Vienna may change, postpone or cancel a course for good cause. Good cause includes illness of the instructor, safety concerns, closure of a course location, unsuitable outdoor conditions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
For outdoor courses, reasonable alternatives may include a replacement date, a different climbing area or a suitable sheltered location. If no reasonable alternative can be offered, payments already made for the affected service will be refunded. Further claims exist only where required by mandatory law.
8. Participation Requirements and Safety
Participants must be in a suitable state of health and physical condition for the booked activity. Relevant health restrictions, injuries or other safety-related circumstances must be disclosed before the course begins.
Participants must follow the instructor’s safety instructions. The instructor may adapt, interrupt or end an exercise or exclude a participant from an activity if this is necessary for safety reasons.
For minors, the person making the booking or the legal guardian is responsible for providing correct information and ensuring any required consent.
Whether a participant can climb or belay independently is assessed individually during the course. Participation in a course does not in itself guarantee independent proficiency.
9. Late Arrival, Early Termination and Non-Attendance
If a participant arrives late, the course generally ends at the originally agreed time. There is no entitlement to an extension or partial refund.
If a participant ends the course early or fails to attend for reasons within their control, the agreed price remains payable.
10. Equipment and Third-Party Services
Participants generally provide their own climbing shoes. Any additional equipment supplied by Climbing Academy Vienna must be agreed in advance. Participants must use equipment properly and follow the instructor’s directions.
Admission fees, rental equipment and other services provided by climbing gyms or third parties do not form part of the contract with Climbing Academy Vienna unless expressly included in the agreed service.
11. Vouchers
Vouchers may be issued as value vouchers or for a specified experience. Orders can be placed through the contact form, by email or by phone. The voucher is generally provided as a PDF after payment has been received.
Vouchers are normally redeemable for five years from the date of issue. Any statutory claims that may continue beyond this period remain unaffected.
A value voucher is credited at its stated value. A voucher for a specified experience covers the service described on the voucher. Additional costs or price differences may apply if the requested service exceeds the voucher’s scope.
Cash redemption is excluded unless required by law.
For vouchers purchased at a distance, the statutory right of withdrawal described in section 12 applies unless it has expired or the voucher has already been redeemed at the consumer’s request.
12. Right of Withdrawal for Voucher Purchases
Consumers generally have the right to withdraw from a distance contract for the purchase of a voucher within 14 days without giving a reason. The withdrawal period begins on the day the contract is concluded.

13. Liability
Liability is governed by the applicable statutory provisions. Liability for personal injury is not limited.
Climbing involves inherent risks that cannot be completely excluded even when recognised safety standards are followed. Participants must follow all safety instructions and act responsibly.
Anyone who causes damage by culpably disregarding instructions or by using equipment improperly is liable in accordance with the applicable law.
Liability for personal belongings and for services supplied by independent third parties exists only to the extent required by law.
14. Data Protection
Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy published on this website and the applicable data protection laws.
15. Applicable Law and Place of Jurisdiction
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. For consumers, this choice of law does not deprive them of mandatory protections provided by the law of the country in which they have their habitual residence.
The statutory place of jurisdiction applies to consumers. For contracts with businesses, the competent court in Vienna is agreed as the place of jurisdiction.
16. Final Provisions
If an individual provision of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is not affected. The invalid provision is replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
